A small logistical item in preparation for baby Francis...

Old family vehicle...
New family vehicle...

Yes that's right, we finally fit in at our parish now that we own a 12-passenger van. The minivan just wasn't going to fit five car seats, especially three in the back seat, and there's really no point in getting a van that seats 8 people -- one more child and that will be at capacity too. We really had to stretch to get this van with all of the home expenses, but pending repairs on the minivan made it doubly a necessity. The Lord helped us with a good find; a 2006 van that was 4 figures in price with 126,000 miles on it (a lot) but miles that were due to it being a rental van. It was rented to church groups for mission trips and other similar trips, so it's almost all highway miles. It runs very well and has a full maintenance history.

The kids love it, and call it "Big Momma." We also call it the "Koopliner." Aidan is insisting on sitting in the furthest back sear right now to make sure he has enough space.

Molly would like to do an update post on Francis soon; he's doing very, very well praise God. His parents aren't quite as steady as he is. These last 5 weeks will be very long with lots of overstress and panic attacks about heartbeats and movement, etc. due past experience with Henry. We are ready for it to be over and him to be out with us. Praise God that He is in control.

On a totally unrelated subject, we got back from a trip bowling for Father's Day and saw three baby raccoons down in the grass between our house and the neighbors to the north. Raccoons are not necessarily the best animals to have around, but there was no denying these babies were ridiculously cute! They climbed a tree but didn't seem to care about us at all, we just walked right up to say hi (no idea where mom and dad raccoon were). They hung out while we took a few pics (click to enlarge):
